Meet the core team! We also work with a small, rotating group of dedicated individuals.
Hi, I'm Caitlin! I was born and raised in Upstate New York at the base of the Adirondack Mountains. Storytelling makes me feel deeply connected to the human race. Imagination makes us unique from any being that has ever graced the Earth. At our core, we are all weaving a powerful narrative throughout our lives. Nothing makes me feel more alive than seeing something play out in my head and then putting all the pieces together in the real world while working with other people to make that vision come to life. Since 2012, I have had the privilege of writing and directing multiple short films with my company Snarky Aardvark Films, LLC. We also shot a feature length art documentary featuring local artists and have worked with companies on mini-documentaries about their brand. I love the balance between the solo act of writing and the collaborative nature of filmmaking. At this stage, I am expanding my creative reach as Director of Saratoga Springs International Film Festival.

Tom Appler is from Queensbury, New York. As a child, Tom was drawn to the bizarre images, tension, scares, and the macabre that was created in the horror film genre. As Tom grew older, he learned to appreciate the effort it took to create those images and tensions, and as a result, appreciated the effort it took to make films of all genres as a whole. Beginning in 2006, with no formal study of any kind, Tom with the help of friends and loved ones, began making multiple short films of the comedy and horror genres while also making music videos with little to zero budget. As a self-taught guitar player, he was able to take those skills and transfer them in making the music scores in some of the projects he was a part of. Tom gives and thrives on passion, excitement, and enthusiasm while making his projects as well when he helps others with theirs. Drawn to the creativity and that same passion, is now a part of the filmmaking process with the founder of the newly formed Snarky Aardvark Films, Caitlin Stedman. Tom with the best of his abilities is willing to learn and help with Snarky Aardvarks Films first documentary that focuses on local artists of the Adirondacks. His goal is to help create films and projects that will affect and entertain viewers on a positive level while also experiencing the enjoyment of creating something special out of nothing. Some of Tom’s favorite filmmakers include John Carpenter, Tim Burton, Guillermo Del Toro, Wes Craven, Robert Rodriguez, Sam Raimi, Dario Argento, and Edgar Wright.
